Rylett Crescent
The project is a complete remodelling of a Victorian townhouse in central London. As well as a sensitive refurbishment of the upper floors containing bedrooms, the new contemporary character of this seemingly traditional house is expressed at the lower social spaces. These include a street facing formal living room, a kitchen opening to the back and two newly excavated levels of basement that form a family living room and a secluded study. The lower spaces below ground are formed spatially and treated with materials and natural light, in a way that they bare a more striking resemblance to a civic interior, than a domestic space.
