Outdoor Cinema
Since the collapse of the Somali state in the early 1990’s, what has occurred is the disappearance of the notion of public space. The existing pre-war spaces such as squares, recreational grounds and pedestrian spaces have either been privatised or severely encroached upon by private developments. This has led to a rapidly growing city with little or no public spaces for its citizens to enjoy. In some way this project aims to address this need by offering a mini park on the edge of town with a number of activities such as walking routes, playground for children, outdoor cinema and restaurants. The idea is that families and friends could leave behind the noise of the city and enjoy a multiple of recreational experiences in an idyllic countryside setting.
